Sunless Tanning Contest 1999

Contestant Number Four

Attention: This contest ended September 18, 1999

Ms. Four (picture B) was our second place winner!

Ms. Four, paleThere is nothing better than receiving a picture of someone with a sunless tan. Unless you also get a picture of them before they had a fake tan! Ms. Four has done us that favor. Here she is, in all her glorious paleness.

To make things even more interesting, Ms. Four has entered twice. The two photos below show her after using two different products. And she also sent us her tips. It's enough to make me weep with joy.

Our facts: Ms Four believes she is between a type II and and a type III. I think she looks more IIish. In her first "tan" photo, Zia Sans Sun was applied twice at 24 hour intervals, then 24 hours elapsed before the photo was taken. She used a sponge paintbrush to apply the sunless tanner to her back.

Ms. Four, Zia Sans SunIn the second "tan" photo, Au Courant Sunless Tanning Spray was applied twice at 24 hour intervals, with an additional application just to the legs. Ms. Four believes the added color is present in the photo. If it is, I sure as heck can't tell. I am experiencing severe tan envy at this moment.

Ms. Four's sunless tanning tips:

"I exfoliate in the shower with a washcloth and a shower gel. Towel dry and put my hair up in a ponytail. I start with my lower legs and work my way up to my neck, then do my arms, then...I finish with my back. I have been dotting the tanner all over the area, and then rubbing it in with circular motions."

Ms. Four, Au Courant"I get the best, streakless results when using my hands, not gloves. Usually when I'm done, I rub a little AHA lotion into the areas that tend to grab more tanner, such as the ankles, feet, knees, crook of elbow, armpit area, etc."

"For those occasions when you want to be even darker, just apply some bronzer over your 'tan' or just the areas you normally get a little darker when you used to tan in the sun (like the top of the arms)."

"You can also dust some blush over the areas that burned when you tanned in the sun, like the tops of your shoulders, collarbone, etc."
