How To Enter

Include the following personal information with the photograph or image:

• Your real name.
• Your street address.
• Your email address.
• Your age (or just declare: I am 18 or older).
• Your skin type (see What's Your Skin Type?).
• If you have any special pigmentation issues, such as vitiligo or albinism, please make a note of it.
• Which sunless tanner(s) you used. If you used more than one product, please identify where you used each product (legs, face, body).
• How many times you applied it (once, twice...).
• Over what period of time did you apply it (twice in one day, three times in one week, etc.).
• How much time has elapsed between the last application and the taking of the photograph.
• If you are using a sunless tanner with added color, does the photo show you with the added color, or did you wash it off?
• Did you use a bronzer? If so, what brand, and where did you use it (bronzers are perfectly acceptable in the contest).
• Did you apply the sunless tanner yourself, or did someone help you apply it?
• If someone helped you apply it, did they help you with the whole thing or just your back? Please note that there is nothing wrong with getting help.
• Would you like to pass along a sunless tanning tip? Please do...
• Do you want a name to appear with your photo? If yes, what name do you want to use?
• Do you want your face to be visible? Your face can be blurred if you wish (see face blurring options). Or you can resort to sunglasses and a hat or wig. Please don't send pictures of yourself with your head missing. It looks too weird.

How to send a picture or image:

The best way:

Take any snapshot of yourself and put it in an envelope. Don't forget the personal information. Mail it all to:

The second best way:

Email an electronic image of yourself to clara AT sunless DOT com. Include your personal information in the email, and attach the image to it. Please send .jpg, .bmp, and other Adobe Photoshop compatible formats. Nothing larger than 1 megabyte will be accepted. A scanned photograph is preferable to an image from a digital or video camera. As all electronic images are suspect, entering this way disqualifies you for the prize. The prize will go to the photographic entry that receives the most votes in the event that an electronic entry receives more. If this seems to you to be a cheap ruse to discourage you from sending an electronic image, you are correct. But if your primary goal is simply to have people gawk at your fake tan, this will work for you just fine.

Privacy information:

All personal information provided will not be sold, distributed, or shared with anyone. Photos and images become property of Just A Little Bit Orange. Photos and images will be used only for the contest and for no other purpose.

Entries will not be accepted if:

You are not eighteen or older.
You do not provide the required personal information.
The quality of the image precludes reproduction.
The photo appears to be candid, not posed.
The photo does not include enough of you to make sense (no shots of just your knees, please).
You are insufficiently clothed.
The image is offensive or in poor taste.
You are an employee, owner, or stockholder of a company that sells, manufactures, or distributes sunless tanning products.
The contest has come to an end.

Contest Timeline:

Start sending in your photos: June 16, 1999
Posting of photos begins: August 5, 1999
Stop sending in photos: August 31, 1999
Start of voting period: September 7, 1999
End of voting period: September 15, 1999
End of contest and identification of winner: September 18, 1999

How the judging will be done:

The entries, identified only by a number, date of submission, and skin type, will be displayed on a web page at www.sunless.com. The sunless tanning product used will not be identified. Image source (photograph or electronic image) will be identified.

Once a sufficient number of entries has been received, visitors to sunless.com will be prompted to vote by sending an email to clara AT sunless DOT com informing her which entry they judge to have the most realistic fake tan. Each person may cast one vote for First Place.

Once the judging is complete, results will be posted along with the details of the sunless tanners used by all of the participants. None of the personal information will be posted.

What about the prize?

Our winner will receive a gift basket of goodies courtesy of Au Courant! Remember that only photographic entries are eligible for the prize. No prize substitutions.

The other participants who sent in photos will be receiving a surprise in the mail from sunless.com as soon as Hurricane Floyd goes away.

Note: The fact that Au Courant will be generously providing the prize for the sunless tanning contest in no way implies an affiliation with Au Courant. It does not imply that Au Courant is sponsoring the contest, or has any control over the outcome. It does imply that Au Courant has great gift baskets.

Can I enter more than once?

Yes! If you want to enter more than once, using a different sunless tanning product in each entry, that's fine.

What will happen to the entries?

Following the end of the contest, the associated web pages will be archived as a sunless.com feature for our continued amusement.
