Sunless Tanning Contest 2000 Rules And More

Contest Timeline:

Start sending in your photos: August 22, 2000
Stop sending in photos: December 31, 2000
Posting of photos begins: January 1, 2001
Start of voting period: February 3, 2001
End of voting period: February 17, 2001
End of contest and identification of winner: February 18, 2001

How voting/judging will be done:

The entries, identified only by a number, will be displayed on a web page at www.sunless.com. The sunless tanning product used will not be identified. Image source [photograph or electronic image] will be identified.

Once a sufficient number of entries are received, visitors to sunless.com will be prompted to vote by sending an email to clara AT sunless DOT com informing her which entry they judge to have the most realistic fake tan. Each person may cast one vote for First Place.

Once the judging is complete, results will be posted along with the details of the sunless tanners used by all of the participants. None of the personal information will be posted.

How To Enter

Sunless Tanning Contest 2000 starts 8/21/2000

Include the following personal information with the photograph or image:

1. Your full name [first and last].
2. Your street address.
3. Your email address.
4. Your age [or just declare: I am 18 or older].
5. Your skin type [see What's Your Skin Type?].
6. If you have any special pigmentation issues, such as vitiligo or albinism, please make a note of it.
7. Which sunless tanner(s) you used. If you used more than one product, please identify where you used each product [legs, face, body].
8. How many times you applied it [once, twice...].
9. Over what period of time did you apply it [twice in one day, three times in one week, etc.].
10. How much time has elapsed between the last application and the taking of the photograph.
11. If you are using a sunless tanner with added color, does the photo show you with the added color, or did you wash it off?
12. Did you use a bronzer? If so, what brand, and where did you use it [bronzers are perfectly acceptable in the contest].
13. Did you apply the sunless tanner yourself, or did someone help you apply it?
14. If someone helped you apply it, did they help you with the whole thing or just your back? Please note that there is nothing wrong with getting help.
15. Would you like to pass along a sunless tanning tip? Please do...
16. Do you want a name to appear with your photo? If yes, what name do you want to use?
17. Do you want your face to be visible? Your face can be blurred if you wish [see face blurring options]. Or you can resort to sunglasses and a hat or wig. Please don't send pictures of yourself with your head missing. It looks too weird.

How to send a picture or image:

The best way:

Take any snapshot of yourself and put it in an envelope. Don't forget the personal information. Mail it all to:

Important: Do not send by Federal Express or UPS. Use regular old U.S. Mail.

Photo taking tips: for best results, have your picture taken outdoors during daylight hours, but in a shaded area. Photos in direct sunlight [unless taken by a professional photographer] are likely to contain harsh shadows.

The second best way:

Email an electronic image of yourself to clara AT sunless DOT com. Include your personal information in the email, and attach the image to it. Please send .jpg, .bmp, and other Adobe Photoshop compatible formats. Nothing larger than 1 megabyte will be accepted. A scanned photograph is preferable to an image from a digital or video camera.

As all electronic images are suspect, entering this way disqualifies you for any of the prizes. First prize will go to the photographic entry that receives the most votes in the event that an electronic entry receives more. Only the first ten photographic entries are eligible for the $25 gift certificate. If your primary goal is simply to have people gawk at your fake tan, not to win a prize, entering this way will work for you just fine.

Privacy information:

All personal information provided will not be sold, distributed, or shared with anyone. Photos and images become property of Just A Little Bit Orange. Photos and images will be used by sunless.com only. Entries may become part of the photo gallery at a later date. [Note: Anyone who submits a photo to sunless.com may ask that it be removed at a later date if desired. No problem!]

Entries will not be accepted if:

You are not eighteen or older.
You do not provide the required personal information.
The quality of the image precludes reproduction.
The photo appears to be candid, not posed.
The photo does not include enough of you to make sense [no shots of just your knees, please].
You are insufficiently clothed.
The image is offensive or in poor taste.
You are an employee, owner, or stockholder of a company that sells, manufactures, or distributes sunless tanning products. Employees of Walmart, Walgreens, Nordstrom, etc. are cool, though.
The contest has come to an end.
You won first, second, or third place last year!

What about the prize?

Each of the first ten entries in the contest will receive a $25 gift certificate from TanForLess.com. The postmark date/time on the entries will determine order of precedence, not date/time the entries are delivered to Just A Little Bit Orange. Gift certificates will be sent by mail.

No entries postmarked later than 12/31/2000 will be accepted.

Our First Place winner will receive a $100 gift certificate from TanForLess.com! Remember that only photographic entries are eligible for the prize. No prize substitutions.

If I am one of the first ten entries who receives a $25 gift certificate, can I still win the $100 First Place prize?

Yes!

Can gift certificates be applied toward the total cost of an order [including shipping and tax]?

Yes!

Can I enter more than once?

Yes! If you want to enter more than once, using a different sunless tanning product in each entry, that's fine.

Can I enter if I live outside of the U.S.?

Yes!

What will happen to the entries?

Following the end of the contest, the associated web pages will be archived as a sunless.com feature for our continued amusement.
