A picture of someone with a sunless tan is worth a thousand words.

Even if that picture has been scanned, reduced to 256 colors, shrunken to 72 dpi, and slapped up on the Internet.

The winners of our [first annual?] sunless tanning contest are below.

First Place: Ms. Six, SUN Laboratories Dark Sunsation

It was the tummy:

"I cast my vote for Ms. Six! Her stomach is so dark. I cannot wait to find out what she uses."

"It looks so dark and so natural! Especially the tummy."

"I would like to vote for Ms. Six, because her tan seems to be the darkest. It is also very brown, not orange at all! I can't wait to find out what product she used."

"My vote goes to Ms. Six. While I realize that she posed against a white background (and with a white top), I find the color not at all orange, the application streakless, and the 'tan lines' very impressive."

"I'm voting for Ms. Six because even though her tan is so dark it still looks super-natural! You go girl!"

"Her stomach and legs look awesome."

"I could probably even endure a little odor for results like this!"

Second Place: Ms. Four, Au Courant Sunless Tanning Spray

It was the before photo (but the legs didn't hurt a bit):

"I just have to vote for Ms. Four. Beautiful! And she was sooo pale before!"

"Her results are so good that I'll take courage and start having a fake tan very soon."

"There were some good pics sent in and the tans looked really good, but, I have to go with Ms. Four. After seeing her paper-white legs in her before picture, then seeing her with a tan that looks so natural - I had to pick her..."

"Although it was very hard to choose, I must say that Number Four (photo B) has my number one vote...That is a gorgeous tan...(and I appreciate the fact that she sent a 'before' photo!)."

"I am voting for this one because this is the tan I would like to have - I think it is extremely natural looking."

"This is certainly a difficult vote, they all do look great. But I do have to vote for one...that did not have a base tan, after all that's what this is all about."

Third Place: Ms. Seven, Merle Norman Sun Free Self Tanning Creme

It was the husband with the real tan standing behind her:

"I have to say that my vote goes to contestant #7. She looked gorgeous with her tan! I know what it is like to be a type I so I was amazed at how wonderful she looked!"

"My vote is for Ms. Seven because you can't tell her fake tan from his real one."

"Being a type I myself, I know how hard it is to get a 'fake tan' to look natural. She did a great job. I really can't tell the difference between her and the real tan in the picture."

"I can't tell a difference between her tan and her husband's. It really looks natural for her to be a type I."
