Jan Tana Show Tan

Every once in a while, I get an email that goes something like this: "Help! I am starring next week as the lead in The King and I. How can I look less like a red-headed Irish boy from Boston in just four days?" These emails drove me to despair, but not anymore. Now I can reply: "No problem, you need Jan Tana Show Tan."

Show Tan is the ideal product to use if you must have a deep dark tan this very second. The extremely liquid formula, which must be applied with a hydra sponge, will leave you insanely dark, and the DHA in the product will produce a light to medium sunless tan over a period of hours.

Application tips:

• You must wear gloves.
• This can be a messy product to apply. Shake well, then put two ounces of the product into a four ounce spray bottle [look for spray bottles in beauty supply stores].
• A sponge is included with the product, but that sponge didn't work for me. My usual sponge on a stick didn't work either. What has worked best for me is a sponge designed for pancake makeup application available from theatrical supply stores [mine came from Mehron]. It is commonly called a foam hydra sponge, and costs about $1. Get it!
• Spray the sponge lightly with the Show Tan, then begin applying from your feet up. A little goes a long way.
• Three or more hours after you have applied the product, apply a moisturizing lotion on top. This will even out the color. For an extra dark tan, apply a moisturizing sunless tanner on top, such as Banana Boat Sunless Tanning Cream in Soft Medium Blend. Do not use a fast drying sunless tanning product.
• Be sure to practice application before your performance.
• Expect your bathroom to be destroyed.
